I have been a Logic user for 2 years now and I used to hate it. Our university has strayed away from PT because we are taught that a DAW is just a fancy tape machine.
You need to understand signal flow first then get to know the DAW. With L8, signal flow is very clear and you can't beat the price. I do have a PT rig and I purchased it to get ready for my career. The studios I assist in both run HD systems and it is crucial that you know PT in this modern industry. I have to say though Logic is really becoming my DAW of choice both in tracking and editing.
