The 'Category' Folders as you described them are found in the System Library which was the clue that you were looking in the wrong Library Had same problem; found out what's up. So, I notice I had around loops in Logic, noticed some were greyed out, got online to figure it out, tried reindexing, all the greyed out ones disappeared around loops.
In short, after thoroughly searching through folders, I found the place where "existing" loops were, took mental note of the extension for the loop files, and searched through the computer for somewhere else where files with the same extension might be found. Hi, I found that file LoopsDatabaseV Just moving that file away and restarting Logic did the trick no reindex needed.
Still the file date didn't change, which I found odd, as it seemed to indicate that Logic was using a different database somewhere. I stopped Logic, put the file back and restarted, and the loops were still available, and the file date didn't change, again.
I finally found the actual database there, with a very recent modification date :. The explanation, I think, is that some Logic code update moved the database to the new location a while back, but didn't delete the old one, and was still using it. Moving the file away from the old folder Application Folder probably triggered some recovery code that switched to the new database in Audio Music Apps and kept the new location as a setting probably in the Preferences file, but I was too lazy to go and check , which explains why it ignored the old file when I put it back in the old location later on.
Aug 5, AM. I've tried it all but my loops are still grey. I found my loopsdatabasev Kind of strange location? Anyway, I just moved the file, re-started Logic and also tried Reindex loops but nothing happens.

Needless to say, understanding how all of this potentially wonderful content can work for you might be ppro good idea, if not particularly useful.
While similar to those, they contain special information embedded in them which allows for a sort of elastic tempo and pitch, among other things.
